Postdoctoral Position in Cancer Research Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network, University of Toronto Toronto, Ontario, Canada A POSTDOCTORAL position is available in Toronto, Canada, in the laboratory of Dr. Aaron Schimmer at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network; one of the top five cancer research centres in the world.Our research program focuses on identifying new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of leukemia with emphasis on targeting unique vulnerabilities in the mitochondrial of AML stem cells.We have over 260 publications in high impact journals including recent publications in Cell Stem Cell. 2019;24:621-36; Cancer Cell. 2019;35:721-37; Sci Transl Med. 2020;12; Blood. 2020;136:81-92; and Cell Stem Cell. 2020;26:926-37 e10.
Chemical biology, genetics, proteomics, transcriptomics, bioinformatics, Genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 screening, biochemistry and molecular analyses of human cancer cells, mouse models and primary samples are used for our studies.
Our lab has an excellent track records in advancing therapies from the lab into clinical trial. Candidate requirements:- PhD or MD/PhD degree obtained within the past 3 years- Demonstrated expertise in molecular biology- Highly self-motivated and creative individual with high quality first author publications- Expertise in mitochondria/ metabolism and/or computational biology is a plus- Excellent writing and communication skills- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team is a prerequisite.
