GRE

The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) is an admission requirement for most graduate schools in the world.The examination is conducted by Educational Testing service (ETS).It is a computer based exam which can be taken only in English in 700 centres woldwide .The exam is availble at a fixed price of $185 and can be taken by in 700 Prometric test centres based in 160 countries.More than 650,000 students appear for the exam every year.

Format and Timing

The exam consist of six broad sections :-

The first section is always the analytical writing section involving separately timed issue and argument tasks. 
Two verbal reasoning sections 
Two quantitative reasoning sections,  
Either an experimental or research section

A minute break is given after each section while a 10 minutes break is provided after the third section.The total duration to give  the exam is 3 hours 45 minutes  and the score is valid for a period of 5 years.

The biggest advantage to give GRE is that it is that it allows the students to skip the questions .Also , many students give the exam multiple time and lets you decide which score you want to send to the desired school.
