Have you ever come across the phrase starving student? It didn’t come out of nowhere but it certainly carries a fact that college students are often broke, but it doesn’t always have to be that way. It all depends on being aware of how you’re spending your money and cutting out on other expenditures. These 10 tips will put some more money in your pocket –

1. Make a budget – Have a basic idea of where you are spending and where you can cut back. This is basic underlying lesson you will learn during college.

2. Recycle – You can always recycle your old books or even uniform if it is in a good condition. This will not only help you in gaining some money but will also help the needy.

3. Save money to make money – Start saving as soon as you can, think about investing in stocks or any good scheme which has favourable returns and you won’t regret it later.

4. Minimum Borrowing – Don’t borrow more than you have to. If you borrow once you will get a habit of borrowing and it will become your lifestyle choice and you will find it hard to wean yourself off the debt.

5. Pay back loans – This should be your priority, if you have taken any kind of loan pay back loans with higher rate of interest in monthly installments or any plan which suits you.

6. Pay bills on time – Always pay your bills and fee on time to avoid late charges. You will end up saving lot of money and hassle.

7. Too much of shopping – If you are too much of shopper that’s okay, but you can buy various non perishable things like paper towels, food items in bulk which will help you in saving a lot of money.

8. Cook it up – College is all about exploring yourself, being away from your comfort zone teaches you lot of things. Prepping up some of your meals can save you a lot during and after college.

9. Campus offerings – Take advantage of what your campus has to offer, like movies, social events or visits to places. Campuses have an array with many event organizations and generally arrange them for free.

10. Walk it out – Just walk to your college, or have a ride on your cycle if your college is far, rather than investing in a car. It will save you from additional costs like fuel, maintenance etc. Moreover you will get your daily dose of exercise too.
